Air Suspension / Ride Height Warning
Caution — Service soon
What It Means
The air suspension system has a fault. The vehicle may sit unevenly, ride harshly, or be unable to maintain proper ride height. This primarily affects luxury SUVs (Range Rover, Mercedes, Audi) and trucks with air-ride systems.
Common Causes
- Air spring/air bag leak (most common — rubber degrades over time)
- Air compressor failure (worn out from constant cycling)
- Ride height sensor fault or misalignment
- Air line leak (check for hissing sounds)
- Valve block fault (moisture contamination)
- Relay or fuse failure
Can I Still Drive?
If the vehicle maintains normal ride height: yes, but have it checked soon. If the vehicle drops to the bump stops (very low, harsh ride): tow to a shop — driving on deflated air springs will damage the air bags and potentially the suspension components.
Estimated Repair Cost
$300 – $3,000
This is an estimate only. Actual costs vary by vehicle make, model, year, location, and shop labor rates. Always get multiple quotes for major repairs.
