Supplemental Restraint System (SRS / Airbag)
Caution — Service soon
What It Means
The airbag system has a fault. In a collision, one or more airbags may not deploy, or may deploy unexpectedly. This is a passive safety system — the vehicle drives normally, but occupant protection is compromised.
Common Causes
- Faulty clock spring in steering wheel (most common)
- Loose connector under driver or passenger seat
- Faulty side impact sensor
- Damaged seat belt pre-tensioner
- Airbag module internal fault
- Previous deployment not reset (salvage vehicles)
Can I Still Drive?
Yes — but airbags may not deploy in a crash. Passengers should be aware. Common cause is debris under the seat disconnecting the yellow SRS connector — check under seats first.
