Passenger Airbag Off
Informational — For your awareness
What It Means
The front passenger airbag has been automatically disabled because the seat occupancy sensor detects no passenger, or a small child/child seat. This is NORMAL behavior. The light should turn off when an adult sits in the passenger seat.
Common Causes
- No passenger in seat (normal)
- Small child or child seat in front passenger seat (normal — airbag disabled for safety)
- Heavy bag or object on passenger seat (may trigger sensor)
- Faulty seat occupancy sensor mat (if light stays on with an adult seated)
Can I Still Drive?
Yes. This is a normal function. If the light stays off when an adult is seated in the passenger seat, the airbag is active. If the light stays ON with an adult passenger, have the occupancy sensor checked — the airbag will not deploy for that passenger in a collision.
