AWD / 4WD System Warning
Caution — Service soon
What It Means
The all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive system has a fault. The vehicle may default to front-wheel drive (or rear-wheel drive) only. The system may have disabled itself to protect the drivetrain.
Common Causes
- Tire size mismatch between front and rear axles (most common — check tire pressures and sizes)
- Transfer case actuator motor fault
- Low transfer case or differential fluid
- AWD coupling or Haldex clutch fault
- Wheel speed sensor fault (shared with ABS)
- Transfer case control module fault
Can I Still Drive?
Yes — the vehicle will operate in two-wheel-drive mode. Avoid off-road driving or conditions requiring AWD. The most common cause is tire size/pressure difference — check all tires match and inflate to spec.
