Door / Trunk / Hood Ajar
Informational — For your awareness
What It Means
One or more doors, the trunk/hatch, or the hood is not fully latched. Driving with a door unlatched is a safety hazard — the door could open at speed.
Common Causes
- Door, trunk, or hood not fully closed
- Faulty door latch sensor or switch
- Wiring damage in door harness (common in high-mileage vehicles)
- Hood latch sensor corroded or misaligned
Can I Still Drive?
Check all doors, trunk, and hood. If all are closed and the light persists, a sensor is faulty — safe to drive but the interior lights may stay on, draining the battery. Lock the vehicle manually to prevent battery drain.
