Electric Parking Brake Service Mode

What It Means
The electric parking brake is in service/maintenance mode. This mode must be activated before performing rear brake pad replacement, as the EPB actuator must be electronically retracted. Attempting to compress the caliper pistons without activating service mode will damage the EPB actuator.
Common Causes
- Service mode manually activated for brake pad replacement
- EPB system fault (accompanied by additional warnings)
Can I Still Drive?
If you did not intentionally activate service mode: take the vehicle to a shop immediately — the parking brake may not function. If you entered service mode for brake work: exit service mode after completing the job using the same procedure (varies by vehicle — consult service manual).
