Electronic Stability Program (ESP) Off
Informational — For your awareness
What It Means
The electronic stability program has been manually turned off via the ESP button, or is temporarily disabled due to a fault. ESP helps prevent skidding and loss of control by applying individual brakes and reducing engine power.
Common Causes
- ESP button pressed (check for ESP OFF or similar button, often near the shifter)
- System disabled for diagnostic purposes
- ABS/traction control fault causing ESP to default off
- Steering angle sensor needs recalibration after alignment
Can I Still Drive?
If manually turned off: press the ESP button to re-enable. If re-enabling fails: drive cautiously, especially on wet or curved roads. ESP is a safety net — drive as if it's not there. Have the system checked if it won't re-enable.
