Headlight Leveling / Adaptive Headlight
Caution — Service soon
What It Means
The automatic headlight leveling system or adaptive (swiveling) headlight system has a fault. Headlights may be aimed too high (blinding oncoming traffic) or too low (reduced visibility). Adaptive headlights may not swivel with steering input.
Common Causes
- Headlight level sensor broken or disconnected (attached to suspension arm)
- Headlight leveling motor failed (inside headlight housing)
- Adaptive headlight module fault
- Aftermarket suspension changes affecting sensor position
- Headlight assembly replaced without calibration
Can I Still Drive?
Yes — but be aware headlights may not be optimally aimed. Avoid blinding oncoming traffic. Have the system checked at your next service. Some vehicles allow manual headlight adjustment via a dial on the dashboard.
