Hill Descent Control
Informational — For your awareness
What It Means
Hill descent control is active (green light — vehicle is automatically controlling speed on a steep descent) or the system has a fault (amber light). This system is common on trucks and SUVs and uses ABS to maintain a constant low speed downhill.
Common Causes
- System manually turned on (green light — normal, press button to deactivate)
- System unavailable due to high vehicle speed (only works below ~20 mph)
- ABS/traction control fault affecting hill descent
- Hill descent switch or module fault
Can I Still Drive?
Yes. Use manual braking on descents if the system is not available. The vehicle's normal brakes are unaffected.
