Hood Open Warning
Critical — Stop driving
What It Means
The hood is not fully latched. Driving with an unlatched hood can result in the hood flying open at speed, completely blocking forward visibility — an extremely dangerous situation.
Common Causes
- Hood not fully closed after maintenance or fluid check
- Hood latch sensor misaligned or faulty
- Secondary hood latch stuck (lubricate latch mechanism)
Can I Still Drive?
Stop immediately and close the hood fully. Push down firmly on both front corners of the hood until you hear two clicks. If the light persists with the hood latched, the sensor is faulty — safe to drive but verify the hood is physically secure before driving.
