What It Means
Fuel level is critically low — typically 1-2 gallons remaining. Running out of fuel can damage the fuel pump (which uses fuel for cooling), especially on modern direct-injection engines.

- Fuel level below reserve — refuel immediately
Can I Still Drive?
Refuel as soon as possible. Most vehicles have 30-50 miles of range remaining when the light comes on, but this varies. Do not rely on the 'miles to empty' display — it becomes inaccurate at low fuel levels. Running a diesel completely empty requires fuel system priming.
