Regenerative Braking System (EV/Hybrid)
Caution — Service soon
What It Means
The regenerative braking system is reduced or unavailable. The vehicle may rely more heavily on friction brakes, reducing energy recovery and range. Brake pedal feel may change — this is normal and the friction brakes still work.
Common Causes
- High-voltage battery is fully charged (no capacity for regen — normal, no action needed)
- Battery temperature too low or too high (regen limited to protect battery)
- Brake system fault affecting regen coordination
- Drive mode selection (some modes reduce regen — check settings)
Can I Still Drive?
Yes. Friction brakes provide full stopping power. Expect reduced one-pedal driving effect and slightly reduced range. This is often temporary and resolves when the battery discharges slightly or reaches optimal temperature.
Estimated Repair Cost
$0 – $2,000
This is an estimate only. Actual costs vary by vehicle make, model, year, location, and shop labor rates. Always get multiple quotes for major repairs.
