Trailer Connection / Trailer Light Fault
Caution — Service soon
What It Means
The vehicle has detected a trailer electrical connection, or there is a fault with the trailer lighting circuit. A faulty trailer light is both a safety hazard and a traffic violation.
Common Causes
- Trailer connected (normal — some vehicles show this light when a trailer is detected)
- Trailer light bulb burnt out
- Trailer wiring harness corrosion or damage
- Trailer connector pins corroded or bent
- Blown fuse for trailer lighting circuit
Can I Still Drive?
If towing: check all trailer lights (running lights, brake lights, turn signals). If lights are working, the fault may be intermittent — clean the connector with electrical contact cleaner. If not towing and the light is on, there may be a short in the trailer wiring connector.
